February 27 Googling MeFebruary 26 Shlumpadinka????I was just trying to check out the meaning of a word on merriam webster when i came across this word...
"shlumpadinka"
I was like.. WAH! Very sophiscated leh!!!
 And i started to wonder if i will create such strange words ever... I doubt so.
Anyways, background to "shlumpadinka" ... • \shlum-puh-DINK-uh\ • noun : a woman who dresses like she has completely given up on herself and it shows : a dowdy and unstylish woman

1. Defined the desired outcomes,criteria and decision
- I am hungry... i need to fill my stomach (desired outcome), it must be delicious and healthy (criteria) and i will eat (decision)
2. Gather and interpret information
- Where can i eat, what can i eat, and what is delicious and yet healthy...
3. Generate alternatives - Instead of char kway teow, maybe i can eat hokkien mee. Instead of porridge, maybe i can eat rice. Instead of fish & chips, maybe i can eat chicken chop...
4. Evaluate alternatives and choose the best
- Char kway teow is delicious but too oily, hokkien mee is delicious but not healthy, rice is all carbs, fish and chips is deep fried and unhealthy, chicken chop is not as delicious. Porridge is healthy but cannot have it plain cos it will not be delicious... ARGH!
5. Communicate and implement
- I throw a tantrum and tell everyone i am soooooooo frustrated in deciding (i communicate), and promptly walk away to eat whatever i deem fit (implement).
Therefore, I've failed in making a good decision. MUAAHAHAHAHHAHA.....
Seriously...
If i have to go thru this process everytime i make a decision... i think i will die. February 25 How to stay young?
Received this emaill over the weekend... it might sound really cheesy but hey, life is cheesy. +_+
HOW TO STAY YOUNG 1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay 'them. (so, for the last time... stop asking me my weight!!!!
2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down. (Keep me! Keep me!)
3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. 'An idle mind is the devil's workshop.' And the devil's name is Alzheimer's. (I wonder if it is considered "not letting my brain idle" if i keep my mind active thinking about winning toto. Muahahah!)
4. Enjoy the simple things. (like getting the last piece of watermelon at the fruit stall...
5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath. (A fren of mine recently blogged about laughing till you gasp for breath... and i thought, wouldn't it be nice if we make a note down on the whos, whats and whens of every laughter)
6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.
7. Surround yourself with what you love , whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.
8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.
9. Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.
10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity. (I

Yesterday was the $10 Million Hong Bao Draw… someone, no… I should say, some 10 persons out there has won $1mil each. *sour grapes*
This is the first time I bought TOTO in a desperate bid to get a windfall (as so many other suckers out there who have contributed to the winnings these 10 persons got!). I got 2 numbers out of 6… only 67% away from getting that $1million!!!! 33%... not that far from the dream.
Wonder if these 10 persons got any sleep last night... i didn't win and i got little sleep.
To satisfy my desires... I intend to: 1) bring my family to Europe for a 2 months holiday = $50K
2) Pay off my debts $15k
3) Buy a car = $80K (no need fanciful BMWs.. Japanese car can already)
4) Renovate the house = $50K (must make sure there's a walk-in wardrobe and all in anticipation of all the shopping i'm gg to do!!!)
5) Pay for my bro's studies = $30K (of cos i'm not sending him abroad... i am not splurging!)
6) Eat, drink and be merry for 22 months (2 months in Europe already ma so total 24 months of NOT WORKING) = $100K (for sis and myself...got company ma!)
7) Give my mum, dad, sis and bro $$ to use = $200K ($50K each)
I'm not an ambitious person... feet will still be firmly on the ground (the gravity will pull it down anyway). The leftover $500K i'll put it in the bank first. Every month it will generate $1,500 interest... after 2 yrs of making merry, i will get a job and continue with a normal dog eat dog world life. But i'll always have $$ to spare... and not lead a hand to mouth life as i am now! *LOL* My desires are not that hard to satisfy... no?
Whoever said I cannot dream? February 21 Decision (booby) Traps..You know how it is... everytime you go for a training, you wonder if you are just wasting your time (esp if it is a work related thing). I personally don't like to go for trainings because i think it wastes too much time! But yesterday's training (Making Effective Decisions) was quite interesting... not the "how to" make effective decisions, but rather the traps we often fall into even before we decide. So, which one do you fall under?
Hastiness
Making a decision before you understand the whole problem or what you want to achieve.
- Probably gets a additional score for initiative but many scores are deducted for solving the wrong problem!
Going Solo
Making a decision without involving others who should be involved or who might help make the right decision.
- It's good to be independent but there's always bias when the decision is made.
Decision Dodging
Avoid the responsibility of making decisions, or always making the decision with the lowest risk, such as... leaving things as they are.
- No risk. Very annoying. Bet u know someone like that!
Analysis Paralysis
Taking much more time than it should, to gather and analyse information.. before making a decision.
- Being detailed can be a bad thing you know?

I have to introduce... My big boss. Lily Chua... And oh... how can i not include stefy in the pictures right? Now playing: Given Up - Linkin ParkSo.. i was listening to Linkin Park's Minutes to Midnight album this morning on my way to work.. And there was this bunch of blooming idiots having a whale of a time nudging each other, shoving each other, smacking each other's heads, yelling, pushing and talking at the top of their ah beng voices... right beside me. I had my in-ear noise reduction earphones and i could hear them apart from being shoved every now and then.
I was on the verge of standing up and telling them not to be such a nuisance. *EVERYONE looked annoyed really* and it occured to me why i so rather like Linkin Park.. (which was playing the following:)

It's pretty amazing how the next generation kinda sneaks up on you... the last i remembered, i was just a kid and now... everywhere i go, there's a kid in sight. Hahah... how to not admit I'm getting old????
Anyway, my silly cousin, cousin-in-law and my little niece came up for CNY visit today... Nicole was sooooo cute! You tell her, Nicole... 1..2...3... smile! And this is what she does!

Was on the bus this morning and I realized it’s been awhile since I last came up with some rubbish ramblings…Anyways, since my bikey has been sent for repairs and came back, I’ve not been riding. Public transport is the way to go for me these days…
Now, as most of you would know… there are plenty of things to see if you do take some time to look around you! And me being a habitual people watcher… had many a great time watching all these characters on my long and tedious journey to work. Let me introduce to you a few of my discoveries…
The Yakkaty Yak Fella talks non-stop on the bus… yak yak yak yak yak yak yak. On the phone. Non-stop. And did I mention, at a volume that’s above the legal acceptable decibel level… That always leaves me wondering… early morning so much things to say??? Leave me alone already… I can hear you from the back of the bus!
The Generous Philanthropist Let’s continue on the topic of acceptable decibel level… this joker is very generous. Always likes to share their music with the rest of the passengers (without even asking if we like it)… earphones/headphones are always switched to eardrum bursting levels. Burst their eardrums so they can share their music with us… very generous right?
The Trainee Make-Up Artist I think there’s this make up course somewhere that tells their students that the best way to have very stable hands when doing make up for people, is to learn to make up on a moving vehicle. Never mind if it is crowded because when you take part in competitions, there will always be people watching. You might as well get used to it now. And oh yah… it’s full make up. Foundation, eyebrows, eyeliner, mascara, eye-shadow, concealers (I wonder why conceal… we already know how you look like!), lip liner, and lip stick.
Mr. Figgitty Bugger cannot sit still… Shift. Shift again. Cross legs. Uncross legs. Sit up straight. Slouch into chair. Sit up straight again. Cross legs. You get the drift… It’s most disconcerting sitting beside Mr Figgitty. No… not disconcerting. I think it’s just downright annoying. It’s like having that really tall guy sitting in front of you in the movie theatre moving non-stop. Makes u want to smack their head or something sometimes.

You might have met them before – same behavior, different people. The future heartbreaker...Considered half a son... my godson.
All the joy of parenthood (so as to say) according to my own timing. Being greeted as "pama" (his version of ganma.. aka godma)... without having to go thru the whole works of full time caring for, full time paying for and full time disciplining him. Muahahaha!
Junlong came by to visit for CNY and had a whale of a time saying "hello!" to murphy, and promptly turning to us and say "pa pa" (aka scared). And running into the room to say "hello!" to hammy... not to mention he probably left hammy's glass container with tonnes of lip marks (he kisses hammy when you ask him.. albeit thru a glass). And oh... he always gladly gives you a hug and a huge smack on your lips if you do ask for it.
 And did i mention, he will do anything for food??? Muahahahha.... Quite a handful really... it's like his energy is limitless! Climbing up sofas... from the back!! Jumping up and down with much glee on my bed... "terrible two" they say. But still, it's always a joy to see him...  The only reason...Possibly the only reason i look forward to lunar new year....

Something i look forward to every year cos i only get to eat it during CNY... Hahaha! And of cos i've tried for years to steal the recipe from my mum but to no avail. She says she refuses to teach us cos that will likely be the only thing that will remind us of her when she's gone. Quite a morbid thought really... So wat we've tried to do every year is to observe secretly... and note down sequences, ingredients and watsnots. But somehow, she will still be able to hide some processes from us. DANG! Maybe i shall fix up a pinhole camera one of these years... just so i can steal the recipe.
