July 30 My nearby getaway... batamSad things aside... 2 entries prior was about slacking and bumming and grammar... or the lack of it. And it was with reason... Hahah! (yes leh, it's been a very busy weekend).
Just came back from a short getaway... to batam. First time there actually...
Why batam you ask?
- Fuel charges are getting too high... I do not have alot of vitamin M to travel. So batam was like the best i can do i suppose. Was desperate for a beach getaway... wanted to get some sun and a break from it all. And when the opportunity came up... i jumped at it.
So i went off and stayed at Turi Resort (26/7/08 - 28/7/08). It is a very nice resort really... but a tad... very far from town so i really din do much shopping. I've got the rustic wing of the resort... high ceiling, beach view (thou u really cannot compare with the proper maldives/phuket/kho changs beaches of the world... and all la.... )... and basically just bum around for 2.5days. So i really have no complains considering my aim was really to nua. The sun wasn't exactly friendly thou... hiding all the time, so i din get much of a tan (reminder to self: must plan to get a proper tan). Anyhows, it was shiok....
And i did get to watch a beautiful sunrise...
and sunset...
And so... this will suffice (will do, have to.) till my next holiday...
Wait for me!!!!!!
P/s: photos in album.... check it out here. Hammy... has passed away.Have no idea how i should be classifying this. It is so not funnie so i cannot put it under family comics.
Anyways, Hammy died on sunday 27/07/08. While i was away. AGAIN.
I've come to realise that everytime a hamster dies at home, i am not around. Beast was like that, hammy as well. Mum says it's better this way... cos I dun feel the sharp pain of loss. Cos since i'm not around... I don't have to go through the wrapping the little thing up, and burying it and all...
Life can be such a "joke" sometimes... Recently i've been worrying about that silly lazy hamster cos he is old and not really well. Every morning i'll watch him to see if he is breathing before i go to work . Once i've made sure he is alive and all... i go to work. He chose the day I'm not around to watch to go. Sigh...
These few days, i find myself unconsciously looking up towards the shelf where we put him.
But each time, i had no one to watch. Just an empty container. Nua, Nua-ing, Nua-ded...I'm thinking only singaporeans will understand the term in subject.. but sometimes, you'd be surprised.
But for the benefit of those who do not know... here's the explanation.
1) Nua: Slack and do nothing.
2) Nua-ing: The process of slacking and doing nothing
3) Nua-ded: After slacking and doing nothing.
Read: Present tense, present participle and past tense.
I was on the bus on the way to do my hair earlier yesterday and there was this double-decker bus on the right...fully wrapped advertisement and all. And i was thinking... WOW! how did that get past the copy writers and get printed?
I know there's this thing called creativity but c'mon!!! "touchably soft skin"???
So i went back to check the dictionary and found "the word you've entered is not in the dictionary".
How cool is that?
I'd have to say that i now feel that my conversation with some friends 2 years back was absolutely legitimately grammatically correct. Now "tahanicity" don't sound that wrong anymore! July 21 "Not married yet?!?!?!?"Visited grandpa at the nursing home yesterday morning... and we were just chatting away with him and trying to make him think (he got dementia so some form of practice is needed) about things. So mum tested him on his english using our age.... Mum: Ah ping (my sis) is twenty three (in english)
Grandpa: (upon some thinking)... 二十三 (in cantonese)
Mum: ah ling is twenty nine (in english)..
Grandpa: (upon some thinking)... 二十七。。二十八。。二十九。。(expresses a total look of shock... and exclaim) 仲未嫁?!?!?!?(in cantonese)
Ewey: *speechless*
Needless to say, mum and sis had such a good laugh... it lasted all the way to night fall.
- for the benefit of those who don't understand cantonese... "仲未嫁?!" means "not married yet?!" Our pampered brat - MurphyI am classifying this entry as a "family comics" not cos it is like a funnie thing that murphy has to go to the doc. But it is comical cos of the extent my sister pampers hims.
First we couldn't get a cab so we had to walk the 2 streets to arrive at Joyous Vet at CCK Ave 1. And because our dear murphy is old and has problematic paws (aka it gets swollen quite often), Joan had to carry him all the way. (P/s: Murphy weighs 8.9kg. Ideal weight of a Shih Tzu is 5-7kg. Go figure..). See! Princely treatment. Dun even have to walk.
So we ended up being too early (stupid sis saw the wrong clinic's opening time! Blardy hell...) and we sat down at some "cafe-ish" place and drink bubble tea, and read newspaper and wait for about an hour + half or so... Murphy got some bubble tea too leh...
Then kiasu us went to sit outside the vet to wait.... and murphy was like the star of the show. Street performance. Too bad we din earn any money...
Anyways, after the vet session... we tried to flag down a cab to no avail. And hence, Joan had to carry him and walk back home. Prince loh.... July 11 Safe Death"So many people tiptoe through life...
so carefully...
to arrive...
safely....
at death."
- saw this on a friend's msn and found it oh so true. Just have to share it... July 09 Joan started work officiallyshort foodie trip... 5th - 7th Jul 08it was the great malaysian sale... and i bought nothing. Sad case...
The start of the trip: Checking into Hotel Capitol.
And ruin the concept of a nice piece of frosted glass panel.
It was a pity i bought nothing but I did however, enjoy myself eating all my favourite things there. Like my 猪肉粉 and 云吞面。And i finally tried shisha at this street side pub... and it was quite fun. But tiring... cos have to suck sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard to get smoke out. I felt like i was really killing myself inhaling so hard.... heehee!
anyways, here's the mostest delicious but simple dish tat i soooooooooooo love abt KL - 猪肉粉 and my cup of perk-me-up traditional coffee.
And Ginny looking super pleased in the old fashion coffeeshop with her 猪肉粉.
And to conclude the trip... we had the mostest yummilicious choc banana cake at a small little cafe at the corner of Sungei Wang (Yellow Zone Level 1).
BTW: I had 肉骨茶 too(which was BAD! Ginny's friend brought us to the worst I've had in all my life!). July 08 My shoe fetish...I've never thought that i had alot of shoes. In fact, i am always complaining abt the fact that i have big feet and it is difficult to buy shoes in singapore.
Until last week....
According to Joan, she was "cheated" into packing my side of the shoe cupboard....
To my surprise... I have 2 more pairs compared to sis!!!
Hahahhahah! Now that is amazing because my sister is more of a shoe person than i am!!!!
These are joan's 12 pairs of shoes... (they are of a more dainty nature... more colourful and more patterns).
And these are my 14 pairs of shoes... (they are obviously of a sloppy nature... flatter and madder). Pssst: i think the 15th pair was on my feet @ work.
And murphy apparently couldnt resist a nap on my shoe (while my sis was packing...). July 01 TrichotillomaniaToday's Word Of The Day greatly intrigued me... because i actually really felt like doing the exact same thing.
Trichotillomania (noun) \trick-uh-till-uh-MAY-nee-uh\: an abnormal desire to pull out one's hair.
The pulling out hair thing is consistent to how i felt. Just that it was not my hair i wanted to pull.
It was my boss's hair i wanted to yank. Hahahhahahahaha! |
